If you design an iphone or a country house, keep it simple it is harder look. Instead of relying on the flash and dash, a simple design is based on the substance, proportions and details. Most people can not say exactly what is wrong with a house when the proportions are off, but they know a good home when they see it and the right proportions are always key.

In eighteenth century, nails and bricks, like most other elements of a new house were handmade and have become very. But it has allowed the most experienced craftsmen to use these valuable resources. Building materials produced in series were rare or nonexistent and American houses soon were simple by design and necessity.

The wonderful old houses we love always, are around today because the details were well thought out and the materials were simple and of higher quality. Today it requires restraint and discipline to design a home simple and elegant. Leading by most new houses, it seems that designers have changed the old adage of . Less is More to More is More, and threw all the houses that stick.

The simple designs, if done correctly can be timeless. The study of proportions is critical to the success of a design and does not lend itself to formulas and sizes. The proportions of each component must work individually and together as a group. On a facade, windows, doors and architectural details must relate to them and everything. Although the symmetry may be beautiful, it is not required as there is balance. Because a house can be around for hundreds of years, I think it is important to take time to get the details and proportions rights.
